London has many places that are bustling with fun events, and Victoria, Pimlico at the West End is no exception. Here are some great events to look out for in and around this place this December, such as:
- The Belgravia Christmas Markets (December 5-6)
During this event, the elegant district of Elizabeth Street and Pimlico Road will be transformed into a winter wonderland. The place will hosts its Christmas market in its cosy village-like surroundings, with independent antique and design shops, as well as festive stalls, offering great gift ideas to the sounds of live music and other forms of entertainment. It will also welcome a pop-up market to sell a wide array of Christmas gifts and seasonal treats, including everything from fashion items to food. Here, Santa will make his appearance in a black cab photo booth, instead of his traditional grotto, where you can capture a moment with him on photo.
- The South Bank Photography Tour (Running Through December 12)
In this tour, you will learn how to take great photos and improve your skills in photography using fantastic subjects in the South Bank’s colourful and lively surroundings. Here, you will be allowed to take pictures of iconic landmarks, street scenes, architectural works, festival stalls and entertainers. The South Bank Photography Tour offers an exceptional photography learning experience, allowing you to learn how to use your camera effectively as you explore the place.
- The 200th Anniversary Celebration of the Battle of Waterloo (Running Through December 31)
The Household Cavalry Museum is celebrating the historic battle’s 200th anniversary with some rare exhibits and stunning displays, which include an original bugle that was used during the battle by the 16-year-old John Edwards to call the charge of the Household Brigade. A superb full-scale replica of Corporal Stiles is also taking pride of the place. Other items to see are Napoleon’s barb charger’s hoof (on loan), which has been fashioned into a silvered table snuff box, tunics, a silver watch, musket balls and even a horse’s tail taken from the battlefield.
There are also other events that are held every year in Victoria, which are also definitely worth noting. One is the Mind Body Spirit Festival, one of London’s first holistic events, which has now been in existence for well over 2 decades. It is still going strong with a wide variety of workshops, stalls and demonstrations for those who want to learn more about different kinds of holistic practice, such as yoga. Another is the Philatex bi-annual, 3-day postage stamp show that unites more than a hundred dealers from around the world. To those who love gardens and flowers should not miss the RHS Flower Show, which is a monthly 2-day event that is well attended by those in the horticultural community, who are hoping to win a gold medal for their displays. With a wide range of exhibitors coming from all over the UK, the spacious halls the event uses will be transformed into a stunning riot of smell and colour. The flowers always reflect the season during which the show is held.
